On June 11, 2009 The Vietnam Memorial Moving Wall came to West Newton, PA.  For the next 4 days the Moving Wall was open to the public.  This was such a tremendous weekend.  The pictures that I have posted do not do justice to the experiences that were had.  Having the opportunity to talk to the Veterans and family members that were present was simply amazing.  Watching the parents explaining what the wall represents to their children was nothing less than inspiring.  It was impossible to not shed a tear while escorting a family member to a location on the wall which listed the name of their loved one who had given their life in the name of our country.  Most of the visitors have never made the journey down to Washington DC to see the original Vietnam Memorial Wall; so this was their first opportunity to see this awe inspiring monument.  Thanks go out to the team that travels throughout the United States during the year and give many the experience that we had that week.  Thanks also go to Albert (Moose Lodge #31) and Mike (VFW Post 7812) who co-chaired the team that raised the money to bring the Moving Wall to West Newton.  While there were several individuals and businesses that donated both time and money in order to get the Moving Wall there, Albert and Mike were the conerstones of the project.  I will forever be in their debt for allowing me to be a part of such a fantastic event.  To all veterans:  Your sacrifices will never be forgotten due to people such as those who live in West Newton PA.  Feel free to click the Moving Wall logo above to learn more about this tremendous organization.  Clicking on thumbnails will open the picture in a seperate window.  The pictures are in their original format and may be up to 5mb so that you can download the original quality.
